Can I go to a Social Security office in a different state to get a new social security card?

Question by : Can I go to a Social Security office in a different state to get a new social security card?
I live in Illinois, and the closed Social Security office is in 30min away from me, in Indiana though. Since Social Security is Federal I can go there correct? The closest one in Illinois to me is about an hour a way.

You can go to whichever office you want. Just be sure to take your original birth certificate (not a photocopy) with you and ID.
