But seriously, think about getting your "test" product out on any events that draw hundreds of people at once before investing into equipment, leases and loans. These events can include winter farmers markets, auctions, friends wedding or a simple add on craigslist. Get a sense to see what the climate is like in your area from this "test" run. If this works, then start to do your due diligence by seeing who is making cakes in the area and how they market.
