I purchased a cruise with a travel agency. I noticed a credit to my account in July and received a zero balance statement. It’s now November. I’ve already been on my cruise and now they are saying they made a mistake and want to charge me the credited amount. Can they legally do this without my consent? Apparently they have my credit card information on file without my consent. Thanks for your help! I want to do the right thing but at the same time I don’t feel like I should have to pay for their mistake.

Did you complain when they credited your account without your consent? Did you want to “do the right thing” when you noticed their error that was in your favor? No. You saw the “zero” amount, went on the cruise, and thought you hit the jackpot. You knew better. If you *really* want to do the right thing, you’ll pay what you owe.

Well, you did go on the cruise..and no one wants to pay for someone else’s mistakes. In the end YOU WILL end up paying. It don’t matter where you go, whenever you use your credit card information…it is kept on file for at least 90 days! and sometimes longer…depends on the company’s policy. You said that they have your info on file without your consent..but from what I understand…you booked the trip with your credit card!! They are legally allowed to charge you. I work for a Hotel and deal with this stuff on a daily basis..You could call the company and ask them to settle for 1/2 and see what they say.
Good Luck to you
